I feel so liberated since I started making my own spice mixes. Sounds silly, I know. But I used to hate it when I had a dinner plan, only to open the cupboard and find out I was missing an essential spice.
Now I just make them myself. They are a lot easier than you’d think, and 9 times out of 10, I have all of the ingredients on hand. So my dinner plans aren’t shot and it saves me an extra trip to the store for one silly ingredient {those are my least favorite trips because one things becomes 10 things and I’ve walked out of the store wasting money!}.
Since I’ve posted a bunch of the DIY spice recipe now, I thought having them all in one place would we handy. Check out all 10 recipes below:

THANK YOU, THANK YOU for these recipes! Since trying to eat a lower sodium diet, I’ve found it’s really hard to find some of our favorite spice blends without so much salt. I’ll definitely be making the taco spice blend since it’s ALOT lower in sodium than even the low sodium versions at the store [when you can find them].

Wonderful, thank you for these! Just one thing. Allspice is not a combination of spices it is its own spice, similar in appearance to a large peppercorn.

Hey! Thanks for the recipes! Do you ever make your own beef broth? If so, do you have a recipe? I was looking at the ingredients for the ones I have in my pantry and ALL of them contain MSG (YUCK!). Also, the bullion cubes contain MSG AND partially hydrogenated oil. I’m trying to find a better alternative. Thanks so much!

I love to make beef broth ice cubes i think i am gonna match my color cutting boards to matchng ice cube trays Red to red green andect to know what is what i saw an article for saving meat bone scraps and making broth cubes and sroring into baggies to use for bases. i love these spice ideas thank you for them.

I recommend finding some whole peppercorns at ur locL bulk store theyre alot a pound usually Round 28 bucks a pounds but a little bit goes a long way I can fill my contaiIner for less then four bucks…actuAlly recommend buying a coffee grinder n grin ding all kf these urself so u know wats in em….preground spices r allowed a certain per centage of bug n rat materials btw!

Have you ever made your own chili powder? Store bought chili powder has a lot of filler ingredients and tends to use more of whatever spice is cheapest at production time, so the taste is not consistent. I’ve been making my own for years, but I was wondering if you had a different recipe.

Oh, I would enjoy having your recipe for Chilli Powder as well! I use quite a bit of it and always notice it is a bit different from one bottle to the next. I hadn’t even thought about making my own!

A great idea for gifts buy little bottles at the dollar store and include rexipe cards for a gift i love homemade gifts we do this at our church for harvest dinner time will have to make up a bunch for that

Most of these are great with the exception of the fajitas spice. It has chicken bouillon cubes which is really a ton of msg! I would make it and omit the boullion it doesn’t need it!
